Let \((M,g)\) be a compact smooth Riemannian manifold of dimension \(n\) with (possibly empty) boundary. Let \(d\mu:=e^{-\phi}dvol\) where \(\phi\) is a \(C^2\) function on \(M\) and \(dvol\) is the Riemannian measure. Let \(\partial_n\) be the inward unit normal and let \(L_\phi u:=\Delta u-(\nabla\phi,\nabla u)\) be the \textit{drifting Laplacian}. The authors consider the eigenvalues of the \textit{polydrifting Laplacian} \((-L_\phi)^m\) with boundary conditions \(u|_{\partial M}=\partial_nu|_{\partial M}=\dots=\partial_n^{m-1}u|_{\partial M}=0\). This operator is formally self-adjoint with respect to the inner product \(d\mu\) and has discrete spectrum \(0<\lambda_1\leq\lambda_1\dots\). Section 1 contains an introduction to the problem at hand. Section 2 treats general inequalities for the eigenvalues of the polydrifting operator of arbitrary order. Section 3 (resp. Section 4) deals the case of compact domains in \(\mathbb R^n\) (resp. the unit sphere \(S^n\)).
