Quasi-Chebyshevian spline spaces (being piecewise function spaces by their definition) are constructed that are suitable for design. In fact, they are not only shown to be usable for design but the author shows that these spaces are the largest possible ones under the strict conditions that their elements are splines and that they possess the mentioned usability for design, meaning that blossoming is possible employing them. This optimality property is a most interesting and important aspect of choosing the spaces for design, having been researched into earlier by the author without forcing the functions to be splines (thereby finding different function classes).
