The formulation of the Birkhoffian system is taken as a generalization of the Hamiltonian system, it can describe the non-conservative system. In this paper, the authors generalize the idea of Birkhoffian ordinary differential equations to the partial differential equation case. They claim that they have constructed numerical methods for the infinite-dimensional Birkhoffian system by generating function theory and provide numerical experiments to verify the theoretical results.
