In this article, the authors continue their series of studies [\textit{E. Aichinger} et al., Monatsh. Math. 164, No. 2, 119-132 (2011; Zbl 1241.16030); \textit{G. L. Peterson} and \textit{S. D. Scott}, ibid. 167, No. 2, 273-289 (2012; Zbl 1269.16042); ibid. 171, No. 1, 103-124 (2013; Zbl 1283.16039); \textit{G. L. Peterson}, ibid. 173, No. 4, 573-592 (2014; Zbl 1312.16048)] on the units of a compatible nearring \(R\) satisfying the descending chain condition on right ideals using a faithful compatible module \(G\) of \(R\). If \(H\) is a direct sum of isomorphic minimal \(R\)-ideals of \(G\), then the unit group \(U(R)\) is the extension group of the unit group \(U(1+\mathrm{Ann}(G/H))\) by the unit group of \(R/\mathrm{Ann}(G/H)\). The determination of \(U(1+\mathrm{Ann}(G/H))\) has been completed in the previous papers. They thus study the extension group, and show that such extension group is an amalgamated Linz wreath product, which we describe in the following. Let \(G\) be a group which is a product of a subgroup \(B\) and a normal subgroup \(M\). Let \(A=B\cap M\), and let \(N=\{(a^{-1},a)\mid a\in A\}\) which is a normal subgroup of the semidirect product \(M\rtimes B\). Then \(G\cong(M\rtimes B)/N\). When \(M\) is a direct product \(\prod_{i\in I}M_i\) of groups \(M_i\) and \(B\) a group with a homomorphism \(\varphi\colon B\to\Aut(M)\) such that the action on \(M\) via \(\varphi\) permutes the \(M_i\), then the semidirect product \(M\rtimes B\) is called a Linz wreath product of \(M\) and \(B\). In this case, when putting \(A=B\cap M\), and \(N\) as above, one gets an amalgamated Linz wreath product \((M\rtimes B)/N\) of \(M\) and \(B\). Many examples were provided with explicitly determination of these unit groups.
