A structured PDE model using glycemia as structure variable is proposed. Some properties of the solution, the transient behavior and the equilibrium distribution are systematically analyzed. It is innovative to use such a model to replace existing individual-based models and corresponding Monte Carlo simulations in the characterization of the transient behavior and steady-state solution of glycemic profiles in human populations. The model is novel and can offer insights in pharmaceutical research and can be applied to assess possible public health intervention strategies.
