\textit{A. V. Arhangel'skii} [Commentat. Math. Univ. Carol. 49, No. 1, 119--126 (2008; Zbl 1212.54086); ibid. 50, No. 2, 273--279 (2009; Zbl 1212.54098)] started studying the covering properties of the remainders of topological groups. The authors consider various combinatorial covering properties such as Hurewicz, Scheepers, and Menger covering properties. They show, for instance, that every group remainder that is Hurewicz is \(\sigma\)-compact, that a similar statement for Scheepers remainders is independent of ZFC, or that it is consistent that every topological group remainder whose square is Menger is \(\sigma\)-compact. Some results by the authors strengthen Arhangel'kiǐ's research.
