Let \(k\) be a global function field with a finite field of constants \(\mathbb{F}_q\), and let \(\mathbf{G}\) be a split classical group or a quasi-split unitary group. In this paper, the author develops the Langlands-Shahidi method for the case of a Siegel Levi subgroup \(\mathbf{M}\) of \(\mathbf{G}\). Let \(\pi\) be a cuspidal automorphic representation of \(\mathbf{M}(\mathbb{A}_k)\). The author defines the Langlands \(L\)-function \(L(s, \pi, r_i)\) and the root number \(\varepsilon(s, \pi, r_i)\) attached to certain finite-dimensional representations \(r_i\) of the \(L\)-group of \(\mathbf{M}\). This includes exterior square, symmetric square, Asai, and Rankin-Selberg \(L\)-functions. The theory is built systematically, using the local Langlands-Shahidi coefficients and local \(\gamma\)-factors. The main result is the proof that \(L(s, \pi, r_i)\) has a meromorphic continuation to a rational function on \(q^{-s}\) and that it satisfies the functional equation \(L(s, \pi, r_i) = \varepsilon(s, \pi, r_i)L(1-s, \tilde{\pi}, r_i)\).
