The nonlinear Schrödinger equation is one of the often used model equations of quantum mechanics for the physical description of nanostructures and their properties. Here, the time-dependend Schrödinger equation with a cubic nonlinearity in a two-dimensional waveguide is considered. One of the important problems is the question whether an adiabatic reduction available in the linear framework of a system can be used to reduce the dimension of the nonlinear equation and to provide an effective dynamics in dimension one. Therefore, the derivation of the nonlinear quantum models in reduced dimensions has been the object of several recently published papers. For the modeling of the dynamics of electrons in nanostructures, the dimension reduction problem for a Schrödinger-Poisson system has been studied for the confinement on the plane, on a line and on the spheres. In the reviewed paper, strong confinement limits for the nonlinear Schrödinger equation constrained on a curve are analyzed. Several theorems related to the well-posedness and the existence of solutions of proper Caucy problems and to energy estimates are proved.
