Let \(\Omega\) be an open set in \({\mathbb R}^n\) and \(X(\Omega,{\mathbb R}^N)\) be a quasi-normed rearrangement-invariant space of vector-valued functions \(\vec{f}:\Omega\to{\mathbb R}^N\). The main result of the paper says that if \(2\leq p\leq n\), then the Lorentz space \(L^{\left(\frac{n}{p},\frac{1}{p-1}\right)}(\Omega,{\mathbb R}^N)\) is the largest rearrangement-invariant quasi-normed space \(X(\Omega,{\mathbb R}^N)\) such that any local solution \(\vec{u}\) to the system \(-\text{div}(|\nabla\vec{u}|^{p-2}\nabla \vec{u})=\vec{u}\) in \(\Omega\) is continuous for every \(\vec{f}\in X(\Omega,{\mathbb R}^N)\). This result is exploited in combination with the characterization of embedding between function spaces to provide sharp conditions on the right-hand side \(\vec{f}\) in classes of function spaces for the continuity of solutions. Further, the modulus of continuity of solutions \(\vec{u}\) is studied. Roughly speaking, the obtained results tell the reader that if a sufficiently strong rearrangement-invariant quasi-norm of \(\vec{f}\) is finite, then the modulus of continuity of any solution \(\vec{u}\) is locally bounded by the relevant norm of \(\vec{f}\) and the \(L^1\) norm of \(\nabla\vec{u}\).
