The original Loewner equation [\textit{K. Löwner}, Math. Ann. 89, 103--121 (1923; JFM 49.0714.01)] has found many applications in mathematics and mathematical physics. The authors of this paper give extensive references to the recent developments and contribute a major theorem on the multi-slit chordal Loewner equation, which they call the Schramm-Loewner equation for a multi-slit. A slit is a simple curve in the upper half plane. It has been characterized in the Loewner context by the 1-slit chordal Loewner equation, with multiple proofs available in literature [\textit{P. P. Kufarev} et al., in: Tr. Tomsk. Gos. Univ. V.V. Kujbyshev 200, Ser. Mekh.-Mat., Vopr. Geom. Teor. Funkts. 5, 142--164 (1968; Zbl 0209.10401); \textit{A. del Monaco} and \textit{P. Gumenyuk}, Contemp. Math. 667, 63--77 (2016; Zbl 1355.30009)]. A multi-slit is a union of finitely many slits whose closures are pair-wise disjoint. The subject of the main result in the paper under review is the multi-slit chordal Loewner equation. It provides a unique way to generate a finite union of pair-wise disjoint simple curves in the upper half-plane from the chordal multi-slit Loewner equation with constant weights. The authors point out that the weights, called Schramm-Loewner constants throughout the paper, are not specifically computed in their proof. This opens a new avenue of research for the interested. Namely, given a multi-slit, develop a method for obtaining the corresponding Schramm-Loewner constants via geometric or potential theoretic properties of the slit.
