The aim of this paper is to study propagation of regularity and persistence of decay results for a class of fifth order dispersive models. The authors consider the initial value problem for a class of fifth order dispersive models containing the fifth order Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation : \[ \partial_tu-\partial^5_xu-30u^2\partial_xu+20\partial_xu\partial^2_xu+10u\partial^3_xu=0. \] The main results show that regularity or polynomial decay of the data on the positive half-line yields regularity in the solution for positive times. With only slight modifications concerning the hypothesis on the initial data, the techniques in this paper apply to a large class of fifth order equations including some models arising from mathematical physics.
