This paper deals with a boundary value problem of the form \[ \begin{aligned} -u''(t)=f(t,u(t), \quad 0\leq t\leq 1, \\ u'(0)=0, \quad u(1)=\alpha u(\eta), \end{aligned} \] where \(\alpha, \eta\in (0,1)\) and \(f(t,0)=0\) for all \(t\in [0,1]\). The author borrows a fixed point theorem from [\textit{J. X. Sun}, Nonlinear functional analysis and applications. Beijing: Science Press (2008)] and gives sufficient conditions which guarantee the existence of at least one (nontrivial) or at least two (nontrivial) solutions of the problem: one negative and one sign-changing.
