The authors investigate the existence of traveling waves to the following nonlinear reaction-diffusion system \[ \begin{cases} u_{t}=u_{xx}-uv^{m}, \\ v_{t}=D v_{xx}+uv^{m}-k v^{n}, \end{cases} \] where $D > 0$, $m > n > 1$ and $k > 0$ are physical parameters arising from the relevant models in chemical reaction or infectious disease, $u$ is the density of chemical species $A$, $v$ that of $B$. The authors establish that the speed \(c\) of the traveling wave must lie in a bounded interval for a given initial value $u_{0}$ at $-\infty$. The explicit bound is derived in terms of $u_{0}$ and other parameters. This paper extends known results in literature on Gary-Scott type systems such as [\textit{T. Kolokolnikov} et al., Physica D 202, No. 3--4, 258--293 (2005; Zbl 1136.35003)] and [\textit{J. Wei} and \textit{M. Winter}, Stud. Appl. Math. 110, No. 1, 63--102 (2003; Zbl 1141.35401)].
