The author gives the following asymptotic expansions of the harmonic numbers \(H_n:=\sum_{k=1}^\infty k^{-1}\) for large \(n\): \[ H_n\sim \frac{1}{2}\psi(2m+h)+\gamma+\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{\mu_k(h)}{(2m+h)^k}, \] where \(h\) is any real number, \(m:=n(n+1)/2\), \(\psi\) is the digamma function, \(\gamma\) is the Euler-Mascheroni constant and the coefficients \(\mu_k(h)\) are computed by means of a recurrence relation given in terms of the Bernoulli polynomials. And also the two following expansions: \[ H_n\sim \frac{1}{2}\log\left(2m+\frac{1}{3}\right)+\gamma+\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{a_k}{(2m+b_k)^{2k}}, \] \[ H_n\sim\frac{1}{2}\psi\left(2m+\frac{5}{6}\right)+\gamma+\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{c_k}{(2m+d_k)^{2k}}, \] where the coefficients \((a_k,b_k)\) and \((c_k,d_k)\) are computed by means of certain systems of recurrence relations A numerical test that compare the accuracy of the three approximations is also given.
