The authors present some important results in connection with the Hilbert transform due to Tricomi who was interested in solving the so-called airfoil equation \(H_{t}f=g\). They also discuss a connection to orthogonal polynomials, where Theorem~1 has a particularly nice interpretation, and inverse problems for integral operators.
