    In this paper, the following system of partial differential equations are considered: \[ \partial_{t}u=-\mu\Lambda^{\alpha}u+\partial_{x}(uq),\tag{*} \] \[ \partial_{t}q=\partial_{x}f(u), for x\in T,t\geq 0,\tag{**} \] where \( T \) denotes the 1-dimensional torus,\( f \) is a smooth function, \( \Lambda^{\alpha}=(-\Delta)^{\alpha/2} \) denotes the fractional Laplacian with \( 0<\alpha\leq 2 \) and \( \mu \geq 0 \) is a fixed constant.The existence of solutions and their qualitative properties in the case \( 0<\alpha<2 \) are discussed.In particular, the global existence of weak solutions of (*) and (**) for \( f(u)=u^{r}/r \), \( 1\leq r\leq 2 \) and \( \alpha>2-r \), are obtained under certain conditions. The main tool used to obtain these results is a set of new inequalities for the generalized Fisher information [\textit{G. Toscani}, Ric. Mat. 65, No. 1, 71--91 (2016; Zbl 1366.60064)] \[ I_{\alpha}=\int_{T}(-\Delta)^{\alpha/2}u\Gamma(u)dx, \] where \( \Gamma \) is a smooth increasing function.
