Let \(\nu\) be a tuple of vertical strips. In the paper under review, the author mainly proved that the vertical strip LLT polynomial \(G_{\nu}[X;q+1]\) can be expanded in terms of elementary symmetric functions with coefficients in \(\mathbb{N}[q]\), the set of polynomials in \(q\) with nonnegative integers. His proof is based on a result of \textit{E. Carlsson} and \textit{A. Mellit} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 31, No. 3, 661--697 (2018; Zbl 1387.05265)], which states that \[ G_{\nu}[X;q]=d_{P_\nu}(1), \] where \(d_{P_\nu}\) is a path operator. Remarkably, the author showed that \(d_{P_\nu}\) can be written as a linear combination of certain operators, which behave as multiplication operators, with coefficients in \(\mathbb{N}[q-1]\). The main result of this paper has several interesting consequences.
