On some examples and constructions of contact manifolds (Q2308322): Difference between revisions

The aim of the article is to construct contact manifolds with particular properties. The author establishes a method of such constructions that is a generalization of Bourgeois' and Geiges' methods. The most important result is the following Theorem. Virtually overtwisted structures exist in all odd dimensions $n\geq3$. As a virtually overtwisted structure, the author considers a tight contact structure $\xi$ on an odd-dimensional manifold $M$, if its pullback $\hat\xi$ on a finite cover $\hat M$ of the manifold $M$ is overtwisted.
