Simple-minded systems were introduced by \textit{S. Koenig} and \textit{Y. Liu} [Q. J. Math. 63, No. 3, 653--674 (2012; Zbl 1260.16012)]. It is a generalization of the set of simple modules. So it is natural to generalize the properties of simple modules to that of simple-minded systems. Let \(A\) be a self-injective algebra over an algebraically closed field and \(\mathcal{C}\) a stably quasi-serial component of rank \(n\). In [Commun. Algebra 39, No. 1, 322--334 (2011; Zbl 1236.16018)], \textit{P. Malicki} and \textit{A. Skowroński} showed that \(\mathcal{C}\) contains at most \(n-1\) simple modules. In the paper under review, the authors generalize this to simple-minded systems and prove that the number of elements in a simple-minded system of \(A\) lying in \(\mathcal{C}\) is strictly less than \(n\). In particular, none of the indecomposable modules in a simple-minded system of \(A\) lies in the homogeneous tubes of the AR-quiver of \(A\). Moreover, they show that no object of \(\mathcal{C}\) with quasi-length \(\ge n\) belongs to a simple-minded system of \(A\). In particular, any simple module lying in \(\mathcal{C}\) has quasi-length less than \(n\). As a corollary, for a self-injective special biserial algebra \(A\) over an algebraically closed field, no band \(A\)-module can be in a simple-minded system.
