The aim of this paper is to introduce and study the \(\text{SL}_r\)-opers in the setup of vector bundles on curves with a parabolic structure over a divisor. Basic properties of these objects are investigated. Similar constructions have recently been carried out by \textit{Y. Wakabayashi} [``A theory of dormant opers on pointed stable curves -- a proof of Joshi's conjecture --'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1411.1208}]. This paper is organized as follows: Section 1 is an introduction to the subject. In Section 2, the author presents general facts about jet bundles and differential operators on Riemann surfaces. The underlying parabolic bundle for \(\text{SL}_2\)-opers is investigated in Section 3. The \(\text{SL}_2\)-opers in the parabolic setup are defined and studied in Section 4. Parabolic \(\text{SL}_r\)-opers are defined in Section 5 and Section 6 focuses on the case where the parabolic weights are rational of special type and \(r\) is odd. Section 7 is devoted to further comments and the author discusses alternative definitions of \(\text{SL}_r\)-opers and related questions.
