The study and classification of fusion categories is often compared to that of finite groups. Structure is understood by an organization into families based on similar characteristics. One family of fusion categories that has received much attention are the near-group fusion categories, i.e.\ those which possess a unique isomorphism class of noninvertible simple object. This family has been generalized to include fusion categories whose invertible objects act transitively on the isomorphism classes of noninvertible simple objects inspiring the title: generalized near-group fusion categories. The main result of the authors (Theorem 1.1) is a classification of those generalized near-group fusion categories which possess a slightly degenerate braiding, generalizing the known classification in the nondegenerate and symmetric cases. In addition, a slight improvement of known results about the structure of braided, nilpotent, generalized Tambara-Yamagami fusion categories whose dimension is a power of 2 is presented (Theorem 1.2). In particular, these examples can be realized as equivariantizations of products of pointed fusion categories and a distinguished class of prime fusion category described in [\textit{J. Dong} et al., New York J. Math. 27, 141--163 (2021; Zbl 1466.18012)].
