\textit{M. Mori} [Forum Math. Sigma 8, Paper No. e49, 19 p. (2020; Zbl 1466.46049)] considered the following question: \textit{Let \(\mathcal{M},\mathcal{N}\) be two von Neumann algebras. What is the general form of ring isomorphisms from the algebra \(LS(\mathcal{M})\) of all locally measurable operators affiliated with \(\mathcal{M}\) onto the algebra \(LS(\mathcal{N})\) of all locally measurable operators affiliated with \(\mathcal{N}\)?} Mori himself gave an answer to this question in the case when the von Neumann algebras are of type I\(_\infty\) (or type III). Precisely, any ring isomorphism \(\Phi\) from \(LS(\mathcal{M})\) onto \(LS(\mathcal{N})\) has the following form \[\Phi(x)=y \Psi(x)y^{-1}, \quad x\in LS(\mathcal{M}),\] where \(\Psi\) is a real \(*\)-isomorphism from \(LS(\mathcal{M})\) onto \(LS(\mathcal{N})\) and \(y\in LS(\mathcal{N})\) is an invertible element. However, Mori's representation is not valid for type I\(_n\) von Neumann algebras and Mori asked whether the represetntation holds for type II (in particular, type II\(_1\)) von Neumann algebras. In this interesting paper, the authors give an affirmative answer to Mori's question in the setting of type II\(_1\) von Neumann algebras.
