It is known that the Fourier-type transforms allows us to establish a relationship between different systems of orthogonal polynomials. In this paper, the author investigates the notions of orthogonality and convolution orthogonality by using the Kontorovich-Lebedev transform \(f\mapsto Ff\) defined by \((Ff)(\tau )= \int_0^\infty K_{i\tau}(x)\, f(x)\, dx\), where \(K_{i\tau}(x)\) is the modified Bessel function of the second kind. The convolution related to the Kontorovich-Lebedev transform, given by the formula \((f\ast g)(x)=\frac{1}{2\pi }\int_0^\infty \int_0^\infty e^{-\frac{y^2+t^2}{2yt}s-\frac{yt}{2x}}\, f(y)\, g(t)\, dydt\), satisfies the relation \(F(f\ast g)(\tau )=(Ff)(\tau )\, (Fg)(\tau)\). If certain conditions are satisfied, then \((f,g)\mapsto \int_0^\infty (f\ast g)(x)\, \omega (x)\, dx\) satisfies the properties of an inner product, and one can consider the convolution orthogonality of functions. The author explores the orthogonality and convolution orthogonality of certain sequences of functions and polynomials involving Wilson's and Continuous Dual Hahn polynomials. Some additional examples are obtained by using the modified Kontorovich-Lebedev transform \((F_{\alpha,\beta}f)(\tau )= \int_0^\infty K_{i\tau}(\alpha x^\beta )\, f(x)\, dx\) and the associated convolution.
