Let \(X\) be a smooth projective complex curve of genus \(g\). The group of automorphisms of the algebraic variety defined as the moduli space of vector bundles on \(X\) of rank \(r\) and fixed determinant was determined by \textit{A. Kouvidakis} and \textit{T. Pantev} [Math. Ann. 302, No. 2, 225--268 (1995; Zbl 0841.14029)], who showed that such group is generated by three basic transformations, namely pullback under automorphisms of the curve \(X\), tensoring with appropriate line bundles and taking the dual. This result was then reproved by \textit{J.-M. Hwang} and \textit{S. Ramanan} [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 37, No. 5, 801--817 (2004; Zbl 1073.14046)] and then by \textit{I. Biswas} et al. [Expo. Math. 31, No. 1, 73--86 (2013; Zbl 1386.14124)]. Generalizing the approach of the latter paper, the authors of this paper prove the analogous result for the parabolic setup, on a marked curve \((X,D)\), so \(D\) an effective divisor on \(X\). So let \(\mathcal{M}(r,\alpha,\xi)\) be the moduli space of stable parabolic vector bundles \((E,E_\bullet)\) over \((X,D)\) of rank \(r\) with system of weights \(\alpha\) and \(\mathrm{det}(E)=\xi\). The authors prove that \(\mathrm{Aut}(\mathcal{M}(r,\alpha,\xi))\) is generated by four basic transformations, namely: pullback under automorphisms of the marked curve \((X,D)\), tensoring with line bundles, dualizing and taking Hecke transformations with respect to the subspace \(E_{x,2}\subset E|_x\) for some \(x\in D\). Moreover, by proving that the image of the Hitchin discriminant can be intrinsically described from the geometry of \(\mathcal{M}(r,\alpha,\xi)\) as an abstract variety, the authors prove a Torelli theorem for \(\mathcal{M}(r,\alpha,\xi)\), for any \(r\), any \(\alpha\) and \(g\geq 4\). This vastly generalizes the previous known Torelli theorem for \(\mathcal{M}(r,\alpha,\xi)\), which was only known for \(r=2\) and small weights \(\alpha\), by \textit{V. Balaji} et al. [Math. Proc. Camb. Philos. Soc. 130, No. 2, 269--280 (2001; Zbl 1063.14042)]. In addition, the authors also prove what they call an Extended Torelli Theorem, which says that, in a certain sense, the above four basic transformations are the only ones which can yield isomorphisms between moduli spaces of parabolic vector bundles. See Theorem 7.22 for the precise statement (this holds for curves of genus at least \(6\)).
