Let \(f:E\to F\) be a bundle map between complex vector bundles. Here it is proved a useful formula which relates the Chern numbers of Ker(f) and Coker(f) (on a set in which f has costant rank) to the Chern classes of E and F. The formula is used in the paper by \textit{J. Harris} cited in the title [cf. the preceding review]. A similar formula exists for symmetric and skew-symmetric maps: see \textit{T. Josefiak, A. Lascoux, P. Pragacz}, Math. USSR, Izv. 18, 575-586 (1982); translation from Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser.
