The topic under consideration in this paper is a typical example of a natural setting for \(q\)-hypergeometric functions in association with quantum groups. Hahn-Exton \(q\)-Bessel functions were first discussed in the literature by \textit{W. Hahn} [Z. Angew. Math. Mech. 33, 270-272 (1953; Zbl 0051.155)] for a special case, and \textit{H. Exton} [Jñañabha, Sect. A 8, 49-56 (1978; Zbl 0468.33002)], for the general case, in the context of \(q\)-analogues of Fourier-Bessel orthogonality. Numerous results are obtained in the study under review concerning particular Hopf algebras, and Schur orthogonality relations are investigated. The associated group is \(M(2)\), connected to SO(3) by a limiting process. This detailed and important study is concluded by obtaining an addition formula and a product formula for the Hahn-Exton \(q\)-Bessel functions by the use of quantum group theoretic methods.
