The work tries to propose a numerical scheme for an extremely difficult problem, the periodic initial-value problem for the generalized Korteweg- de Vries-Burgers equation. A lot of numerical experiments are displayed in order to cast light on the interaction between nonlinear, dispersive and dissipative effects involved in equations of this type.
