A multilevel method defined on a complete set of grids is used. Some particular grid transfer operators are discussed and numerical results are displayed for an (an)isotropic diffusion equation. Then one considers the problem of developing a multilevel method for sparse grids which would be the parallel of existing algorithms for finite elements. Hierarchical basis functions are used with finite volume.
