Let \(v\) be a Krull valuation of a field with valuation ring \(R\) and \(g(x)\in R[x]\) be a monic polynomial of degree \(k\) with \(\overline{g}(x) \) irreducible over the residue field of \(v\). A polynomial \(f(x) \in R[x]\) is called a Brown polynomial of the type (\(g,e\)) if \(e\) is a positive integer and the \(g\)-expansion of \(f(x)\) given by \(\sum A_i(x)g(x)^i\), \(A_i(x) \in R[x]\), \(\deg A_i(x)< k\), satisfies the following two conditions: (1) \(v^x(A_e(x))=0,~v^x\) is the Gaussian prolongation of \(v\) to \(K(x)\); (2) \(A_0\neq 0,~ ev^x(A_i)\geq (e-i)v^x(A_0)>0\) for \(0<i<e.\) The above two conditions were considered by \textit{R. Brown} in [Indian J. Pure Appl. Math. 39, No. 5, 403--410 (2008; Zbl 1245.11035)]. In this paper, the author proves that if a Brown polynomial \(f(x)\in R[x]\) of the type \((g,e)\) is decomposed over \(R\) as \(f_0f_1\) with \(\bar{g}^e(x)\) dividing \(\overline{f_0}(x)\), then \(f_0\) is a Brown polynomial of the same type and deduces a result proved in [Manuscr. Math. 134, No. 1--2, 215--224 (2011; Zbl 1222.12002)].
