Let \(X\) be a smooth complex algebraic variety, let \(Z \subset X\) be a smooth subvariety and \(i \colon Z \hookrightarrow X\) a closed immersion. The authors study relations between the Hodge filtration of a filtered \(\mathcal D_X\)-module underlying a mixed Hodge module and the \(V\)-filtration along \(Z\). The latter notion was introduced in the hypersurface case by Kashiwara and Malgrange (see [\textit{M. Kashiwara}, Lect. Notes Math. 1016, 134--142 (1983; Zbl 0566.32022)], [\textit{B. Malgrange}, Astérisque 101--102, 243--267 (1983; Zbl 0528.32007)]). First of all, the authors show how this construction can be extended to the case where \(Z\) is a locally complete intersection of smooth hypersurfaces. Thus, they express the functors \(i^\ast\) and \(i^!\) in terms of the \(V\)-filtration. Then they describe some properties of the Hodge filtration and the Fourier-Laplace transform of monodromic mixed Hodge modules, give a Hodge theoretic proof of Skoda's theorem on multiplier ideals, and consider some other applications.
