The paper is concerned with generalized Bessel multipliers, i.e. bounded operators between two Hilbert spaces of the form \(M=DUC\), where \(U\) is a bounded operator on \(\ell^2\), and \(C\) and \(D\) are the analysis and the synthesis operators of two (generally distinct) Bessel sequences. The authors first prove that various properties of \(M\) reflect the properties of \(U\) (which is known and stated without proof in [\textit{P. Balazs}, Sampl. Theory Signal Image Process. 7, No. 1, 39--54 (2008; Zbl 1182.41029)]). Also, the authors provide some conditions on generalized Bessel multipliers sufficient to ensure the frame property of one of the building Bessel sequences. In addition, the invertibility of generalized multipliers of Riesz bases is discussed. Several examples are included.
