The paper deals with quantitative uniqueness (a quantitative form of strong unique continuation property) of solutions to parabolic equations with lower order terms on compact smooth Riemannian manifolds. Precisely, the equation considered is \[ \Delta_g u-\partial_tu-\tilde{V}(x,t)u=0\quad \text{on}\;\mathcal{M}^1, \] where \(\mathcal{M}^1=\mathcal{M}\times(-1,1)\) and \(\Delta_g\) is the Laplace-Beltrami operator with respect to the metric \(g\) on the compact smooth Riemannian manifold \(\mathcal{M}\) of dimension \(n\geq2.\) The author characterizes the quantitative uniqueness by means of the rate of vanishing. Sharp vanishing order is obtained for the nontrivial solutions in term of the \(C^{1,1}\)-norm of the potential. Some new quantitative Carleman estimates and three cylinder inequalities are established as well.
