A Rees-Sushkevich variety is a semigroup variety that is contained in a periodic variety generated by (completely) 0-simple semigroups. Denote by \(\mathbf {RS_n}\) the variety of Rees-Sushkevich semigroups whose groups have exponent dividing \(n\). In an earlier paper [Semigroup Forum 86, No. 1, 162-182 (2013; Zbl 1273.20060)], the author determined the regular principal factors in the free semigroups of \(\mathbf{RS_n}\) and related varieties. The description of these completely [0-] simple semigroups was in terms of the `fundamental semigroups' associated by the author [Semigroup Forum 84, No. 1, 176-199 (2012; Zbl 1257.20053)] with labeled, connected, bipartite graphs, with this purpose in mind. In the current paper, these graphical techniques are adapted to describe the regular principal factors in the free members of the varieties contained in the interval \([\mathbf{B_2},\mathbf{NB_2}\vee\mathbf{G_n}]\). Here \(\mathbf{B_2}\) is the variety generated by the five element Brandt semigroup \(B_2\); \(\mathbf{NB_2}\) is that generated by \(B_2\) together with the rectangular bands; and \(\mathbf{G_n}\) is that consisting of groups of exponent dividing \(n\). Every variety in this interval is the intersection of a subvariety of \(\mathbf{NB_2}\) with a subvariety of \(\mathbf{G_n}\).
