A space \(X\) is \textit{rectifiable} if there is a homeomorphism \(\varphi:X\times X\to X\times X\) and \(e\in X\) with \(\pi_1\varphi=\pi_1\) and \(\varphi(x,x)=(x,e)\) for all \(x\in X\): examples include topological groups. For rectifiable \(X\), compact \(K\subset X\) and closed \(C\subset X\) the set \(K\setminus C\) is closed. A rectifiable \(p\)-space with countable Souslin number is Lindelöf. Let \(\mathcal P\) be a class of spaces such that when \(X\in\mathcal P\) then every compact subset of \(X\) is G\(_\delta\) in \(X\), if \(X\) is not locally compact then \(X\) is not locally countable compact and if \(X\) is a Lindelöf \(p\)-space then \(X\) is metrisable. Then any non-locally compact rectifiable paracompact space in \(\mathcal P\) having a compactification whose remainder is in \(\mathcal P\) is, along with its remainder, separable and metrisable.
