Let \((L_n)\) be a sequence of approximation operators acting on functions \(f\) defined on an interval \(I\). A \textit{localization result} is of the form: if \(f|_J=0\) for a certain open subinterval \(J\), then for all \(x\in J\) one has \(L_nf(x)=o(n^{-1})\). Several such localization results are known. The purpose of this paper is to extend this type of results in various senses and to show that several classical sequences of positive linear operators present different behaviors in this respect. The involved operators are particular cases of the generalized Baskakov/Mastroianni operators, as well as certain composite operators that can be derived from them by means of a suitable transform. | |||
