For any two upper triangular \(n\times n\) matrices which are not similar to direct sums of square matrices of smaller sizes, or which are in general position and have the same main diagonal, a necessary and sufficient condition is given for their unitary similarity. The condition is expressed by the notion of Frobenius norm of matrices.
