Let \(A\) be a complex algebra with involution \(*\). The classical notion of unitarizability of an \(A\)-module \(M\) requires existence of a positive definite inner product on \(M\) with respect to which \(*\) is interpreted as taking the adjoint operator. A pseudo-unitarizable module is defined similarly but dropping the requirement on the inner product to be positive definite (keeping, however, the requirement to be non-degenerate). A special feature is that a pseudo-unitarizable module does not have to be semi-simple. In the paper under review the author adapts the notion of pseudo-unitarizable modules to the setup of generalized Weyl algebras with a standard involution. It is shown that in this setup a module is pseudo-unitarizable if and only if it is isomorphic to its finitistic dual. Using the classification of indecomposable weight modules by \textit{Yu. A. Drozd, B. L. Guzner} and \textit{S. A. Ovsienko}, [J. Algebra 184, No. 2, 491-504 (1996; Zbl 0864.16020)], the author gives a criterion for such a module to be pseudo-unitarizable. Examples include non-commutative type \(A\) Kleinian singularities, \(U(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\) and \(U_q(\mathfrak{sl}_2)\).
