The authors consider periodic solutions of the following fractional differential equations with delay \[ D^\alpha_tu(t)=Au(t)+Fu_t+f(t),~~~t\in [0,2\pi], ~1\leq \alpha\leq 2, \] where \(A\) is an (unbounded) linear operator on a Banach space \(X\), \(u_t(\cdot)=u(t+\cdot)\) on \([-r,0]\), \(r>0\). They discuss the problem in the framework of Liouville-Grünwald-Letnikov fractional derivatives and give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions in the vector-valued Lebesgue space \(L^p(0,2\pi;X)\), \(1<p<\infty\). The results are obtained in terms of \(R\)-boundedness of operator-valued Fourier multipliers. An abstract criterion is also presented when \(X\) is a \textit{UMD} space, where a Banach space \(X\) is said to be \textit{UMD} if the Hilbert transform is bounded on \(L^p(\mathbb{R},X)\) for some \(p\in(1,\infty)\).
