The objective of this paper is to provide a new universal coefficient theorem for any generalized homology theory \(\mathcal{H}_*\) and Moore spectrum \(M\), which relates the associated homology theory \(\mathcal{H}_*^M\) to a certain lift of the homology theory \(\mathcal{H}_*\), taking values in an abelian category \(\mathscr{D}\). The paper begins by observing that the assignment which sends each abelian group \(A\) to its associated Moore spectrum \(M(A)\) is not functorial. Therefore, the homology theory defined by \(\mathcal{H}_*^M(X,Y):=\mathcal{H}_*(X\wedge M(A),Y\wedge M(B))\) does not depend functorially on \(A\), but does on \(M(A)\). The paper proceeds by offering a claim that the category of Moore spectra is equivalent to the subcategory of a specific abelian category \(\mathscr{D}\), which is a certain category of cyclic chain complexes, on those sequences which are exact. It then states the main theorem, which is a universal coefficient theorem relating the homology theory \(\mathcal{H}_*^M\) to the homology theory \(\widehat{\mathcal{H}}_*\) which takes values in \(\mathscr{D}\) and extends \(\mathcal{H}_*\) in the sense that its restriction to one level in the cyclic chain complex returns \(\mathcal{H}_*\). The paper goes on to develop the basic properties of the category \(\mathscr{D}\) and discusses its intrinsic homological algebra. In the final section, a proof of the main theorem is presented and the relationship between the new universal coefficient theorem and the classical UCT relating \(\mathcal{H}_*^M\) and \(\mathcal{H}_*\) is discussed.
