The paper concerns abstract equations of the type \(\Phi^\varepsilon(u^\varepsilon)= 0\). Here, \(\Phi^\varepsilon\in C^2(E_s, F_{s-m})\) and \(\{E_s\}_{s\in\mathbb{R}}\) and \(\{F_s\}_{s\in\mathbb{R}}\) are two families of Banach spaces. The authors present a Nash-Moser type iteration theorem tailored for singularly perturbed problems. The novel feature is to allow not only loss of derivatives in the solution operator of the linearized problem, but also loss of powers in \(\varepsilon\). Also, the linearized operator is allowed to have a nontrivial kernel. The abstract results are applied to systems of quasilinear Schrödinger equations with small initial data and to the problem of small-amplitude relaxation profiles for quasilinear hyperbolic systems.
