The authors establish existence of small-amplitude shock profiles, with sharp rates of decay and distance from the Chapman-Enskog approximation, for a class of semilinear relaxation systems \(U_t+AU_x=F(U)\) including discrete velocity models obtained from Boltzmann and other kinetic equations. These profiles are constructed as fixed points of some contraction mappings in weighted \(H^s\) spaces.
