The propagation characteristics of electrostatic dust-acoustic (DA) waves in a dusty plasma are investigated. The combined effects of the nonthermal electrons and trapped ions with vortex-like distribution are envisaged. The use of reductive perturbation technique leads to a KdV-like equation, which has a term with the power \(\frac{3}{2}\) of the wave potential. The nonlinear effects of this term in the propagation of the DA wave propagation is possible when the concentration of the electrons is higher than that of the slow counterparts, and the degree of nonthermality \((\beta)\) is greater than one and exceeds its critical value \((\beta_c)\). This latter quantity depends on the number densities of the particles and on the pressure of the charged dust. In absence of dust thermal pressure (cold dusty magnetoplasmas), this solitary wave can propagate when \(\beta<1\). The stationary solution of this KdV-like equation, in the form of \(\text{sech}^4(\eta)\) (quite distinctive from KdV solutions) is studied. The results may find applications in laboratory and space research (e.g., Earth's magnetosphere, auroral region, heliospheric environment, etc.).
