The isoperimetric profile of a discrete group was defined for amenable groups by \textit{A. Vershik} [Sel. Math. Sov. 2, 311-330 (1982; Zbl 0533.22007)] and has been studied extensively. Among all discrete groups, the class of amenable groups is very restrictive. \textit{G. Yu} [Invent. Math. 139, No. 1, 201-240 (2000; Zbl 0956.19004)] introduced property A as a natural extension of the notion of amenability in his work on the Novikov higher signature conjecture. Discrete groups with property A are ubiquituous. Although it is known that there exist finitely generated groups without property A, no one has constructed an explicit example of such a group. This paper is an extension of the results in [J. Funct. Anal. 243, No. 1, 323-344 (2007; Zbl 1117.60008)]. Here author extends the notion of isoperimetric profile from amenable groups to groups with property A. Thus, he is able to give meaning to isoperimetric profile for nearly all known finitely generated groups. It is known that groups with property A are precisely those groups which act amenably on their Stone-Čech compactification. The author defines a notion of isoperimetric profile of an amenable group action in such a way that this reduces to Vershik's definition of isoperimetric profile for the action of a group on a point. Then, the notion of generalized isoperimetric inequality is defined in terms of the canonical action of the group \(G\) on \(\beta G\). One complication that is introduced by this broadening of the definition is that it is no longer clear whether the generalized isoperimetric profile of a group with property A is a quasi-isometry invariant. The paper includes many explicit computations of isoperimetric profiles as well as several interesting open questions.
