A non-commutative version \(H'\) of the well-known Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees was constructed by the author [Bull. Sci. Math. 126, No. 3, 193-239 (2002; Zbl 1013.16026)] and by \textit{R. Holtkamp} [Arch. Math. 80, No. 4, 368-383 (2003; Zbl 1056.16030)] based on planar rooted trees. The paper under review gives an infinitesimal version \(H\) of \(H'\). In \(H\), the axiom that the comultiplication \(d\) be an algebra morphism is replaced by the condition that \(d(ab)=(a\otimes 1)d(b)+d(a)(1\otimes b)-(a\otimes b)\). \(H\) is also based on planar rooted trees. Its coproduct is given by totally admissible cuts, and can be described in terms of two partial orders on the vertices of a planar forest. The antipode can be described in terms of left cuts. There is a non-degenerate Hopf pairing between \(H\) and its opposite (both as algebra and coalgebra), and a basis dual to the basis of forests of \(H\). In a previous paper, the author constructed a \(q\)-deformation of \(H'\) [Bull. Sci. Math. 127, No. 6, 505-548 (2003; Zbl 1042.16023)]. When \(q=0\), one obtains \(H\).
