The author proves the existence of the Chapman-Jouquet (CJ) detonation wave for a simplified model for the qualitative study of one-dimensional combustion waves, that is for the interaction between chemical reactions and compressible fluid dynamics. Assuming the reaction is exothermic, the author proves the existence and the uniqueness of the CJ detonation profile as well as the existence of travelling wave. To this end he uses topological arguments.
