The very interesting paper under review deals with the Dirichlet problem for general augmented Hessian equations of the form \[ F\big[D^2u-A(x,u,Du)\big]=B(x,u,Du) \] over a bounded and smooth domain \(\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^n,\) where the scalar function \(F\) is defined on an open cone \(\Gamma\) in the linear space \(\mathbb{S}^n\) of the \(n\times n\) real symmetric matrices, \(A\colon\ \Omega\times\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^n\to \mathbb{S}^n\) is a symmetric matrix function and \(B\colon\ \Omega\times\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R}^n\to \mathbb{R}\) is a scalar function. The cone \(\Gamma\) is assumed to be convex with vertex at \(0\) and \(F\in C^2(\Gamma)\) satisfies the following basic conditions: F1: \(F\) is strictly increasing in \(\Gamma,\) that is, \[ \left\{\dfrac{\partial F}{\partial r_{ij}}\right\}>0\quad \text{in}\ \Gamma; \] F2: \(F\) is concave in \(\Gamma,\) \[ \sum_{i,j,k,l=1}^n \dfrac{\partial^2 F}{\partial r_{ij}\partial r_{kl}}\eta_{ij}\eta_{kl}\leq 0\quad \text{in}\ \Gamma \] for all symmetric matrices \(\{\eta_{ij}\}\in\mathbb{S}^n;\) F3: \(F(\Gamma)=(a_0,\infty)\) for a constant \(a_0\geq -\infty\) with \[ \sup_{r_0\in\partial\Gamma} \limsup_{r\to r_0} F(r)\leq a_0. \] Based on the techniques developed by the authors in [Bull. Math. Sci., 8, 353--411 (2018; Zbl 1411.35116); Nonlinear Anal., 154, 148--173 (2017; Zbl 1360.35058); Commun. Partial Differ. Equ., 44, 8, 708--748 (2019; Zbl 1427.35070)], first and second-order derivatives estimates are derived for the solutions to the Dirichlet problem considered. As a result, classical solvability is proved as well.
