An explicit six-step singularly P-stable Obrechkoff method of tenth order is constructed for the numerical solution of second-order initial value problems with highly oscillatory solutions. The advantage of this new method is that it is explicit, and thus does not require additional predictor stages. The efficiency, accuracy and stability of the new optimized symmetric explicit six-step method are tested through the integration of several systems: an almost periodic orbital problem, a Stiefel problem, a Bettis nearly periodic problem and a nonlinear undamped Duffing equation with oscillating solutions.
