    The paper considers a version of a wave maps system into the three-sphere, a semi-linear modification of the Skyrme system. The system considered was proposed by Adkins and Nappi in mid 80s. Under a co-rotational symmetry assumption, it reduces to the 1d equation: \[ \psi_{tt} -\psi_{rr} -\frac{2}{r} \psi_r + \frac{\sin(2 \psi)}{r^2} + \frac{( \psi - \sin\psi \cos\psi)(1-\cos2 \psi)}{r^4} = 0 \] with initial conditions \[ (\psi(0),\psi_t(0))=(\psi_0,\psi_1) \] The authors consider solutions such that \(\lim_{r\to\infty}\psi(t,r)=n\pi\) for some fixed \(n\in\mathbb{Z}\) which is referred to as the degree of the map. The authors prove that for each \(n\) there exists a unique stationary solution, a soliton. The main aim of the paper is to provide progress towards the soliton resolution conjecture which states that any solution of degree \(n\) decomposes asymptotically into a soliton, a solution to the linear equation \[ \varphi_{tt} - \varphi_{rr} - \frac{2}{r}\varphi_r + \frac{2}{r^2} \varphi = 0 \] and lower order terms. Theorem \(1.1\) contains the main results of the paper, namely the proof of two partial versions of the conjecture: \begin{itemize} \item For initial data in the energy space and degree \(n\), close to a soliton in a suitable sense. \item Under the additional assumption that the difference between the nonlinear evolution and the soliton remains uniformly bounded in a suitable sense \end{itemize}
