This work is devoted to study and compute maximal projection constants of Banach spaces. As is nicely explained in the introduction of the paper under review, this topic has attracted the attention of many researchers for a long time and still has beautiful and difficult open problems that generate intense research. The main result of the paper gives the computation of \(\Pi_n\), the maximal projection constant amongst \(n\)-dimensional Banach spaces, in terms of maximal sums of the eigenvalues of certain types of graphs. With this tool, the author is able to give a new proof of the known fact \(\Pi_2=\frac{4}{3}\)\,. Moreover, he also shows that \(\Pi_n\) admits a polyhedral maximizer, that is, for every integer \(n\geq1\), there is a polyhedral Banach space \(F_n\) satisfying \(\Pi_n=\Pi(F_n)\), where \[ \Pi(F_n):=\inf\{\|P\| \ | \ P:\ell_\infty(\mathbb{N})\to F_n, \ P \text{ bounded surjective with } P^2=P\}. \]
