Let \(X\) be a Banach space and \(E, F\) be Banach lattices. An operator \(T : X \to E\) is said to be almost limited if \(\|T^\ast (f_n )\| \to 0\) for every disjoint weak* null sequence \((f_n )\) in \(E^\ast\), the dual of \(E\). Similarly, an operator \(T : E \to F\) is called weakly almost limited if, for each weakly null sequence \( (x_n )\) in \(E\) and weak* null, disjoint sequence \((f_n )\) in \(F^\ast\), we have \(f_n (T x_n ) \to 0\). Clearly, every almost limited operator is weakly almost limited. However, the identity operator on \(l_1\) is weakly almost limited, but it is not almost limited. Let \(p\) be a lattice seminorm on \(E\). A subset \(A\) is said to be approximately order bounded with respect to \(p\) if, for every \(\epsilon > 0\), there exists \(u \in E_{+}\) such that \(A \subset [-u, u] + \epsilon B_E\), where \(B_E\) is the unit ball of \(p\). If \(A\) is a norm bounded subset of \(E\) and \(T : E \to F\) is a positive operator, then \(p_{T,A} (f ) = \sup\{|f |(T (|x|) : x \in A\}\) is a lattice seminorm on \(F^\ast\). In one of the two results in the paper, the authors characterize positive weakly almost limited operators through weak* null sequences in the dual that are approximately order bounded with respect to a lattice seminorm. Theorem. Suppose that \(F\) is \(\sigma\)-Dedekind complete. A positive operator \(T : E \to F\) is weakly almost limited if, and only if, each weak* null sequence \((f_n )\) in \(F^\ast\) is approximately order bounded with respect to the lattice seminorm \(p_{T,A}\) for every relatively weakly compact set \(A\) in \(E\). In another theorem, the authors give a characterization of positive weakly almost limited operators using positive null sequences in \(E\) and disjoint weak* null sequences in the dual of the range.
